e-VOA vs B211A: Which Bali Visa Do You Need? (2026 Comparison)

The two most common ways into Bali are the e-VOA and the B211A visit visa. They serve very different trips, and choosing the wrong one can mean paying too much - or running out of days. Here's a clear comparison.

Quick comparison

e-VOA B211A
Stay 30 days 60 days
Extension Once (+30 days) Twice (up to 180 days total)
Max total stay 60 days 180 days
Entry Single Single
Sponsor needed? No Yes (we include it)
Processing 1-3 business days 10-12 business days
Best for Standard holidays Long stays, family, business

Choose the e-VOA if…

  • Your trip is 30 days or less (or up to 60 with one extension)
  • You want the cheapest, fastest option
  • You're on a standard Bali holiday
  • Your nationality is one of the 97 eligible for the e-VOA

The e-VOA is approved in 1-3 business days and needs no sponsor. See the e-VOA →

Choose the B211A if…

  • You're staying longer than 60 days
  • You want the flexibility to extend up to 180 days without leaving Indonesia
  • You're visiting family, doing non-employment business, or having an extended stay
  • Your nationality isn't eligible for the e-VOA (the B211A covers a broader list)

The B211A requires an Indonesian sponsor - but we arrange that for you. See the B211A →

What neither visa allows

Neither the e-VOA nor the B211A is a work permit. You can't take paid employment from an Indonesian company on either. If you plan to work or run a business in Indonesia, you'll want a KITAS - for example the Digital Nomad E33G KITAS or the Investor KITAS. Browse all visa options.

Is the e-VOA or B211A cheaper? The e-VOA is cheaper and faster. The B211A costs more but allows a much longer stay.

Can I switch from an e-VOA to a B211A? They're separate visas. If you know upfront you'll stay longer than 60 days, apply for the B211A from the start rather than relying on e-VOA extensions.

Do both need a sponsor? No - only the B211A requires an Indonesian sponsor, which we include. The e-VOA needs no sponsor.

Which one lets me stay 6 months? The B211A, extended twice, allows up to 180 days total.
