What is the B211A visit visa?
The B211A (now issued under the C1 visit visa category) is Indonesia's single-entry visit visa for people who want to stay longer than a standard tourist trip. It grants an initial stay of up to 60 days, and - unlike the e-VOA - it can be extended twice, in 60-day blocks, up to 180 days total.
That makes it the default choice for extended holidays, family visits, remote work stints, and business visitors who need more than a month on the ground.
The one requirement that trips people up is the Indonesian sponsor. A B211A cannot be lodged without one. We provide the sponsor letter as part of your application, so you don't need to find a company or resident in Indonesia to vouch for you.
Who the B211A is for
- Long-stay travellers - 2 to 6 months in Bali
- Visiting family or a partner living in Indonesia
- Remote workers and digital nomads testing out Bali before committing to a KITAS
- Business visitors - meetings, negotiations, conferences, site inspections, supplier visits
- Retirees exploring long-term life in Bali
- Nationalities not eligible for the e-VOA - the B211A covers a broader list of passports
B211A requirements
Passport
Valid for at least six months from your date of arrival, with at least one blank page. Check this first - an expiring passport is the most common cause of delay.
Passport-style photograph
A recent colour photo against a plain background, face clearly visible, no hat or sunglasses. Phone photos are fine if the lighting is even and the background is plain.
Indonesian sponsor letter
Legally required for the B211A. We arrange this for you - it's included in your application, not an extra you have to source.
Proof of onward travel
Evidence you intend to leave Indonesia - a return or onward ticket. Because the B211A can be extended, some applicants book a flexible or refundable onward ticket.
Sufficient funds
You should be able to demonstrate you can support yourself during your stay. Bank statements are occasionally requested for longer visits.

Processing time
The B211A typically takes 10-12 business days, longer than the e-VOA because it involves sponsor documentation and a fuller government approval process.
Apply at least three weeks before you fly. Indonesian public holidays can extend this, and rushing rarely ends well. If your dates are tight, ask us about Express processing at checkout.
Extending the B211A to 180 days
This is the B211A's biggest advantage. Your initial 60 days can be extended twice:
| Stage | Days | Running total |
|---|---|---|
| Initial entry | 60 | 60 |
| First extension | +60 | 120 |
| Second extension | +60 | 180 |
Each extension is applied for inside Indonesia, before your current stay expires. We collect your passport from your hotel or villa in Bali, handle the immigration appointment, and return it - you don't need to spend a day at an immigration office.
Start each extension 7-10 days before expiry to leave a safe margin. See Visa Extension.
After 180 days the B211A cannot be extended further. At that point you either leave Indonesia, or - if you plan to stay long-term - move to a KITAS, which is the proper permit for extended residence.
B211A vs e-VOA - which one do you need?
| e-VOA | B211A | |
|---|---|---|
| Initial stay | 30 days | 60 days |
| Maximum stay | 60 days | 180 days |
| Extensions | Once | Twice |
| Sponsor | Not required | Required (we include it) |
| Processing | 1-3 business days | 10-12 business days |
| Cost | Lower | Higher |
| Eligible nationalities | 97 | Broader list |
Choose the e-VOA for a standard holiday of 30 days or less (or up to 60 with one extension).
Choose the B211A if you're staying beyond 60 days, want the option to reach six months without leaving Indonesia, or your passport isn't e-VOA eligible.
A common mistake is entering on an e-VOA, then realising you want to stay four months. You cannot convert an e-VOA into a B211A from inside Indonesia - you'd have to leave and re-apply. If there's a realistic chance of a long stay, start on the B211A.
What you cannot do on a B211A
The B211A is a visit visa, not a work permit. You may:
- Attend meetings, conferences and negotiations
- Conduct site visits and supplier inspections
- Visit family and travel as a tourist
- Work remotely for clients and employers based outside Indonesia
You may not:
- Take paid employment from an Indonesian company
- Be on an Indonesian payroll
- Sell goods or services directly to the Indonesian market as a local business
If you intend to work for an Indonesian employer or run a local company, you need a Working KITAS (E23), an Investor KITAS (E28A), or a PMA company. We handle all of these.
Overstay rules
Indonesia charges a daily fine per day of overstay, and extended overstays risk detention, deportation and re-entry bans. Because B211A holders are in the country for months and juggling two extensions, dates are easy to lose track of.
Two habits prevent problems: note the exact expiry on your stamp, and start each extension at least a week early. If you're unsure of your remaining days, message us and we'll check.
Common reasons B211A applications are delayed
- Passport under 6 months validity at arrival
- Sponsor documentation problems - the main failure point for DIY and cheap-agent applications
- Photo rejected - busy background, poor lighting, face obscured
- Name inconsistencies between passport and application
- Applying too close to departure - 10-12 business days is the normal window, not a worst case

Questions about the Single Entry Visa
Who sponsors my visa?
A B211A needs an Indonesian sponsor. As a licensed agency we act as your sponsor - it's included in the price, nothing extra to arrange.
How do extensions work?
Each extension adds 60 days and must be applied for before your current stay ends. We manage the timing and paperwork so you don't risk an overstay.
How long can I stay in Indonesia on a B211A?
60 days on arrival, extendable twice in 60-day blocks up to 180 days total - all without leaving the country. It's the standard choice for stays longer than a month.
Do I need an Indonesian sponsor for the B211A?
Yes, a sponsor is legally required - but you don't need to find one yourself. We provide the Indonesian sponsor letter as part of your application, which is the step most DIY applicants get stuck on.
How long does the B211A take to process?
Typically 10-12 business days, because it involves sponsor documentation and fuller government approval. Apply at least three weeks before you fly, especially around Indonesian public holidays.
What's the difference between the B211A and the e-VOA?
The e-VOA gives 30 days (extendable once to 60) and needs no sponsor. The B211A starts at 60 days, extends to 180 total, and requires a sponsor we include. Choose the B211A for stays beyond 60 days.
Can I work on a B211A visa?
No. The B211A is a visit visa, not a work permit. You can attend meetings, conferences and site visits, and work remotely for clients outside Indonesia - but you cannot take paid employment from an Indonesian company.
What documents do I need for the B211A?
A passport valid at least 6 months from arrival with a blank page, a photo of your passport bio page, a passport-style photograph, and proof of onward travel. We arrange the sponsor letter.
Can I convert my e-VOA into a B211A while in Bali?
No. You cannot convert an e-VOA into a B211A from inside Indonesia - you would need to leave and apply again. If there's a realistic chance you'll stay longer than 60 days, start on the B211A.
How do B211A extensions work?
Two extensions of 60 days each, applied for inside Indonesia before your current stay expires. We collect your passport from your accommodation in Bali, handle the immigration appointment and return it.
Which nationalities can apply for the B211A?
The B211A is available to a broader list of nationalities than the e-VOA, so it's often the answer when your passport isn't e-VOA eligible. Run our free eligibility check to confirm yours.
What happens after my 180 days run out?
The B211A cannot be extended beyond 180 days. You either leave Indonesia, or move to a KITAS - the Digital Nomad, Retirement or Investor KITAS - depending on your circumstances.
