What is the Indonesia Multiple Entry Visa (D1)?
The D1 Multiple Entry Visa lets you enter Indonesia as many times as you like over the visa's validity period, staying up to 60 days per visit. It is issued in 1-year, 2-year and 5-year versions.
The key difference from the B211A is in the name: the B211A is single entry - leave Indonesia and it is used up. The D1 lets you come and go freely.
That makes it the right visa for people whose lives involve repeat trips rather than one long stay.
Who the multiple entry visa is for
- Frequent business travellers - regular meetings, supplier visits, site inspections
- Property owners in Bali who visit several times a year
- People with family in Indonesia they visit regularly
- Regional travellers using Bali as a base while moving around Southeast Asia
- Anyone doing "visa runs" who would rather stop repeating the paperwork
How the 60-day rule works
Each individual visit can last up to 60 days. When you leave and re-enter, a fresh 60-day period begins.
The visa's validity (1, 2 or 5 years) governs how long you may keep entering - it is not a total allowance of days. A 1-year D1 means: for 12 months, you may enter as often as you like, each time for up to 60 days.
Two things to watch:
- Each stay is still capped at 60 days. Staying beyond that is an overstay, even on a multiple entry visa.
- Your visa's expiry is separate from each stay's expiry. Track both.
Which duration should you choose?
| 1 year | 2 years | 5 years | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Testing the pattern | Established routine | Long-term commitment |
| Renewals | Annual | Every 2 years | Rare |
| Cost per year | Highest | Lower | Lowest |
If you already know you will be travelling to Indonesia regularly for years - a property, family, an ongoing business relationship - the 5-year version is by far the best value per year and saves repeated applications.
What you can and cannot do
You may:
- Enter and leave Indonesia repeatedly during the validity period
- Attend meetings, conferences, negotiations and site visits
- Visit family and travel as a tourist
- Work remotely for clients and employers outside Indonesia
You may not:
- Take paid employment from an Indonesian company
- Stay more than 60 days in a single visit
- Use it as a substitute for residence - if you want to actually live in Indonesia, you need a KITAS
Requirements
- Passport valid well beyond the visa period, with blank pages - a 5-year visa needs substantial remaining validity
- Passport bio page scan or photo
- Passport-style photograph
- Proof of purpose - business relationship, family ties or property, depending on your case
- Sponsor where required - we arrange this
How to apply
- Tell us your travel pattern. How often you visit and why determines which duration makes sense.
- Upload your documents - passport bio page and photograph.
- We prepare the supporting documentation, including sponsorship where needed.
- Pay securely via Stripe in AUD, converted to your currency at checkout.
- A licensed agent reviews the file before lodging with immigration.
- Receive your visa by email, ready for your next trip.
Multiple entry vs single entry vs KITAS
| e-VOA | B211A | Multiple Entry D1 | KITAS | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entries | Single | Single | Unlimited | Multiple |
| Per-visit stay | 30 days | 60 days | 60 days | Continuous |
| Validity | Per trip | Per trip | 1-5 years | 1-2 years |
| Live in Indonesia | No | No | No | Yes |
| Best for | One holiday | One long stay | Repeat trips | Residence |
Rule of thumb: one trip, use an e-VOA or B211A. Many trips, use a multiple entry visa. Actually living there, get a KITAS.
Overstay still applies
A multiple entry visa does not exempt you from the 60-day per-visit limit. Indonesia charges a daily overstay fine per person, and long overstays risk deportation and re-entry bans.
Photograph your stamp on each arrival - with frequent trips it is easy to lose track of which visit you are on.

Questions about the Multiple Entry Visa
How long can I stay each visit?
Up to 60 days per entry. You can leave and re-enter as often as you like while the visa is valid.
Can I work on this visa?
No - multiple-entry visit visas are for tourism and business meetings, not employment. For work you'll need a KITAS.
How many times can I enter Indonesia on a multiple entry visa?
As many times as you like during the visa's validity period. Each individual visit can last up to 60 days, and a fresh 60-day period starts each time you re-enter.
How long can I stay per visit on a D1 visa?
Up to 60 days per entry. The visa's 1, 2 or 5-year validity governs how long you may keep entering - it is not a total allowance of days you can spend in the country.
Should I get the 1-year, 2-year or 5-year version?
If you already know you'll visit Indonesia regularly for years - property, family or an ongoing business relationship - the 5-year visa is the best value per year and saves repeated applications.
Multiple entry visa or B211A - which is better?
The B211A is single entry: leaving Indonesia uses it up. Choose the multiple entry visa if you take repeat trips, and the B211A if you want one long stay extendable to 180 days.
Can I work on an Indonesia multiple entry visa?
You can attend meetings, conferences, negotiations and site visits, and work remotely for clients outside Indonesia. You cannot take paid employment from an Indonesian company.
Can I live in Indonesia on a multiple entry visa?
No. Each stay is capped at 60 days, so it isn't a residence permit. To actually live in Indonesia you need a KITAS - Digital Nomad, Retirement or Investor depending on your situation.
What documents do I need for a multiple entry visa?
A passport valid well beyond the visa period with blank pages, a passport bio page scan, a passport-style photograph, proof of your purpose, and a sponsor where required - which we arrange.
Does the overstay rule still apply?
Yes. Exceeding 60 days in any single visit is an overstay, even with a multiple entry visa. Indonesia charges a daily fine per person, so photograph your stamp on each arrival.
Do I need a sponsor for the D1 visa?
Sponsorship is required for some applicants depending on purpose. We arrange the sponsor documentation as part of your application, so you don't need to find one yourself.
Is a multiple entry visa cheaper than repeated single visas?
Usually, if you travel more than twice a year. One application covers years of trips instead of paying and applying each time - and you avoid the admin of repeated lodgements.
