Extending your B211A / C1 visit visa in Bali
If you're in Indonesia on a B211A (C1 visit visa), you can extend your stay twice, in 60-day blocks, up to a total of 180 days - all without leaving the country.
This is what makes the B211A the go-to visa for long stays in Bali. We handle each extension end to end, including collecting your passport from wherever you're staying.
How the 180 days work
| Stage | Days added | Running total |
|---|---|---|
| Initial entry on the B211A | 60 | 60 |
| First extension | +60 | 120 |
| Second extension | +60 | 180 |
Each extension must be applied for inside Indonesia, before your current stay expires. You cannot bank them or apply for both at once.
After 180 days the B211A is exhausted. At that point you must leave Indonesia, or move onto a longer-term permit - see the options at the end of this page.
When to apply
Begin each extension 7-10 days before your current permitted stay expires.
Immigration processing takes time and usually involves an in-person biometrics appointment (photograph and fingerprints) for the first extension. Leaving it to the last few days is how people accidentally overstay.
Check the expiry date written on your stamp - not your flight date, not your arrival date plus 60.
How the process works
- Send us your details - passport, current visa status, where you're staying.
- We collect your passport from your hotel, villa or guesthouse anywhere in Bali - Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud, Sanur, Uluwatu, Denpasar and beyond.
- We lodge the extension with the immigration office handling your area.
- Biometrics appointment where required - we book the slot, tell you exactly what to bring, and guide you through it.
- Passport returned to you with the new permitted stay recorded.
How long it takes
Typically 7-10 business days per extension, depending on the immigration office's workload and whether biometrics are required. Indonesian public holidays can add time.
The second extension is often smoother than the first, since your biometrics are already on file.
What it costs
Current pricing per extension is shown in the panel on this page, in AUD and converted to your local currency at checkout.
Budget for two extensions if you plan to use the full 180 days - and compare that against Indonesia's per-day overstay fine, which quickly exceeds the cost of doing it properly.
What you'll need
- Your passport (we collect it)
- Your current B211A / C1 visa and stamp details
- Your address in Bali
- Sponsor details - already in place if we lodged your original B211A
- Availability for a biometrics appointment if required
If we handled your original B211A application, your sponsor documentation is already on file, which makes extensions considerably simpler.
Overstaying - the risk
Indonesia charges a daily fine for each day of overstay. Longer overstays escalate to detention, deportation and re-entry bans.
B211A holders are especially exposed because they're managing two separate extension deadlines across six months. Simple safeguards:
- Photograph your stamp each time your stay is extended
- Set a phone reminder 10 days before each expiry
- Ask us to check your remaining days any time - message the team
After 180 days - what next?
Once the B211A and both extensions are used up, you cannot extend further. Your realistic options:
| Option | Best for |
|---|---|
| Leave and re-enter on a new visa | Occasional long visits |
| Digital Nomad KITAS (E33G) | Remote workers paid by overseas clients - 1 year |
| Retirement KITAS (E33F) | Over-55s with pension income - 1 year, renewable |
| Investor KITAS (E28A) | Owning or running an Indonesian business - 1-2 years |
| Multiple Entry Visa (D1/D2) | Frequent trips rather than one long stay |
If you've now spent six months in Bali and want to stay, a KITAS is almost always the better answer than repeatedly leaving and re-entering - it's more stable, unlocks banking and long leases, and ends the deadline management.

Questions about the C1 Visa Extension
How many times can I extend a B211A visa?
Twice, in 60-day blocks. With the initial 60 days on arrival, that gives a maximum stay of 180 days in Indonesia without leaving the country.
When should I apply for each extension?
Begin 7-10 days before your current permitted stay expires. Each extension must be lodged inside Indonesia before the current stay runs out - you cannot apply for both at once or bank them.
How long does a B211A extension take?
Typically 7-10 business days per extension, depending on the immigration office and whether biometrics are needed. The second extension is often quicker since your biometrics are already on file.
Do I need to attend immigration in person?
Usually once, for the first extension - a photograph and fingerprints. We book the appointment, tell you what to bring, and guide you through it. We collect and return your passport from your accommodation.
Do you collect my passport in Bali?
Yes, from hotels, villas and guesthouses across Bali including Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud, Sanur, Uluwatu and Denpasar. You don't lose holiday days sitting in an immigration office.
What does a B211A extension cost?
Current pricing per extension is shown on this page in AUD, converted at checkout. Budget for two extensions if you plan to use the full 180 days - still far cheaper than Indonesia's per-day overstay fine.
What happens after 180 days?
The B211A cannot be extended further. You either leave Indonesia, or move to a longer-term permit - the Digital Nomad, Retirement or Investor KITAS - depending on your circumstances.
Do I need my sponsor again for extensions?
Yes, sponsor details are part of each extension. If we lodged your original B211A, your sponsor documentation is already on file, which makes your extensions considerably simpler.
What if I overstay my B211A?
Indonesia charges a daily fine per person, and longer overstays risk detention, deportation and re-entry bans. B211A holders juggle two deadlines over six months, so set reminders 10 days before each expiry.
Is it cheaper to extend or to leave and come back?
For a single long stay, extending is usually cheaper and far less disruptive than flying out and re-entering. If you're repeatedly extending, a KITAS is normally the better long-term answer.
